Not Long Left - The Mating Game, Observed At Barking Station

2014-10-28 17

Pigeons perform the patomine of mating
from one damp ledge to another
as a through train distracts the she into surrendering
herself, the final refusal as matted wings
flap in a frenzy.
Directly below, two lovers argue
she shouts to him about his selfishness
he does what most men do
looks for a word that will settle her rage,
then gently takes her hand
she snatches it back, before lending it back.
Behind them an old man coughs for eternity
Girl and boy land in each others view
making sense of the shortness of time
they meet with thier mouths.
