The billowing night transcended all thought
Above the snow-studded leaves of tree crests,
Row by row
They stand on altars of frost
In the arms of Winter's bare breasts.
A father and a child sit atop the hill
And lay gazes upon the sweltering sky-raven
As a glowing gash
Rent across its chest
To reveal a sparkle-dust wound, brazen.
The child's eyes glittered at the pale cerulean,
The pink halo
Suspended in space,
The ever-reaching Hand of Light reaching out
To touch the freckles on his face.
His father turned to him, seeing his son's eyes
Glittering at these star-sailed legions.
'You know, it's the earth’s magnetic field drawing
Solar particles into the polar regions.'
His son expressed a shame that
Then broke his father's heart.
With the mystery of the aurora borealis revealed,
An entire new world before his eyes
Just fell apart.
