Teedy Dawn - Lets Visit Grandma (ironic)

2014-10-28 1

What this? Oh God, I’m really in a stew,
My kids have arrived and I don’t know what to do.

I didn’t pick up the phone and drew the blinds down low,
Perhaps if I sit still long enough, they’ll just ‘sod off ’and go.

Its not that I don’t love them, but the apron strings are gone,
I’m an independent senior, a happy force of one.

I wish that they would value that; I think its only fair,
But all they do is smile a lot and contemplate ‘home care’.

They think that I am senile and sadly ‘not quite right’,
I simply nod, and pray to God they’ll soon be out of sight.

With empty platitudes they patronise my ears,
They tell me dull and endless tales, which bore me quite to tears.

I simply just don’t give a toss who fell and broke their hip,
I can’t enthral at ‘Velcro’ shoes or skirts without a zip.

They think that I just sit there, quite as a mouse,
But it is fun, the will is done and they don’t get the house.

I know I shouldn't blame them; it’s not their fault you see,
They sadly didn’t inherit their intellect from me.
