Charlotte Riddle - Down On Bourbon Street

2014-10-28 8

It's the prettiest sight
You've ever seen
When the Southern Belle
And the Cajun Queen
Dance right on down
Bourbon Street
In that jazzin' town
of New Orleans

It’s always about midnight
When they begin
their two-step tango
And, with a knowing grin
Shimmy one way first,
then back again;
throw their hands up
And start to spin

The air gets thicker,
You know
they’re ‘bout gone
Boogyin’ outta New O’lens
at the break of dawn
And the people’ll trudge
Back to their homes
Shut doors, curtains drawn

It’s the saddest sight
You’ve ever seen
When the Southern Belle
And the Cajun Queen
Dance right on down
Bourbon Street
Leavin’ that jazzin’ town
Of New Orleans
