Louise Marie DelSanto - She Knew a Good Man When She Saw One

2014-10-28 3

Hardly any man came by her way silently, and
being a perfect lady (with manners and all)
she smiled, and walked past the gentleman
seated in the cafe having capuccino,
whipped cream melting over the handle,

She knew him from somewhere and,
when she saw a man she liked, she smiled to
herself as she deliberated into his eyes, not saying
a word, (she sipped her cappuccino slowly)
stirring inside, longing a bit

She wanted to adjust his tie, and talk over
the New York Times and unseasonable weather,
but was it proper? - New Age women would not
interrupt a good thing, she thought, touching her
lips, but only asked him: May I have your napkin?
