Certain themes of conversation are anathema
They never should be broached
Though opinions may be accurate
the consequence is death
Of relationships
Of peace
Of hopes
Of dreams
Of sanity
Oft’ begun in innocence, with thoughts to rationale
Unforeseen, the outcome
weighs a heart to bow
forced into a corner
Blackened
Helpless
Desperate
Inconsolable
Wretched
In assessment of his triggers she is flawless
when signals are conveyed
accumulating data, measuring the risk
but she cannot read his mind
Of pandemonium
Of fear
Of chaos
Of night
Of anarchy
Yet some things are important that he understand
for future companionship
and for camaraderie
so, at times, the risks are weighed

We hope
We try
