A movement was started to make Palitana town, free of butchers. The local residents had unanimously decided to stop sale-purchase of meat.There are ancient temples of Jain community where devotees from all over the country visit Palitana for ‘darshan’. The local Jain community had, therefore, made a demand before the Government to declare Palitana as vegetarian but still, butchering is on in Palitana. Hence, Jain community is again readying itself for the movement.
