WEB USERS REACT AS BRAZIL REELECTS DILMA ROUSSEFF
Dilma Rousseff took to Twitter shortly after her re-election Sunday October 26, with a short message for the people of Brazil: "Thank you very much". A narrow election victory, she won a little over 51 % of votes, stirring up mixed reactions on social networks.
Several South-American heads of State have congratulated the Brazilian president who has won a second 4 year term in office. The Colombian president, Juan Manuel Santos and his counterparts in Venezuela and Argentina have posted to Twitter applauding the re-election of the Workers Party candidate.
Many Brazilians have also taken to the web, hailing the victory. Social networks are abuzz with posts singing the president`s praises and expressing admiration for the courage she has shown throughout the electoral campaign.
But not everyone`s quite so happy about Dilma Rousseff`s re-election. Comments that highlight the dividing opinion among Brazilian web users. Some fear the strong opinions for and against the president`s re-election could lead to heightened tensions over the weeks and months to come.
