South Korean prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for captain Lee Joon-seok, charged with homicide after April's ferry disaster that left more than 300 people dead.

They allege that Lee and his crew abandoned their ship before it sank.

... while giving orders to the mostly teenage passengers to stay in their cabins.

Parents of the victims are demanding justice.

"They just could have said one word to the kids: 'Get out'. They had no idea what they did wrong. How can they be human beings? For them, the death penalty isn't enough."

Prosecutiors are seeking life sentences for the other three crew members charged with homicide, and prison terms ranging from 15 to 30 years for the rest of the crew.

A three-judge panel is expected to announce its verdicts in November.
