Mexico: Governor resigns but protests continue

2014-10-24 0

Bowing to intense and growing social and political pressure, the governor of the Mexican state of Guerrero, Angel Aguirre, stepped down yesterday in order to "favor the political climate". The State Secretary of Social Development will take charge. Aguirre's removal was a major demand of students and family members of the 43 students who were kidnapped by police September 26 in Iguala, Guerrero and have not been seen since. Continual and growing protests demand that they be returned alive. Clayton Conn reports from Mexico City. teleSUR
