Mother of suspected driver says deadly crash was "accident"

Clashes in east Jerusalem...after what police say was a terrorist attack, and Palestinians call an accident.

On Wednesday, a Palestinian driver slammed into pedestrians waiting at a light rail station. A child was killed...and police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says it was murder.

SOUNDBITE: Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld saying:

"The Israeli police have heightened security in general across Jerusalem and that's after yesterday's terrorist attack in which one baby was killed."

Police have identified the driver as 21-year-old Adbel-Rahman Shaloudi. Immediately after the incident, he was shot by police and died later in hospital. His mother, Inas Shaloudi denies that her son was a terrorist.

SOUNDBITE: MOTHER OF PALESTINIAN SUSPECT, INAS SHALOUDI, SAYING:

"It was unintentional, an accident. He left the car and started to run, they killed him. It was a car accident."
