Turkey's change of stance on border opening raises questions

The recent decision by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to open its border with Syria and allow Iraqi Kurdish militias to aid their embattled compatriots in Kobani has been welcomed since it is seen as aiding the allied war against the Islamic State (IS). Some experts however believe that Turkey's true intention is to allow IS to take over Kobani, so that it may later send in Turkish troops to occupy the region under the pretense of keeping the border safe.
