‘Django Unchained’ actress, Daniele Watts and her boyfriend Brian James Lucas are now each facing a charge of lewd conduct stemming from an incident last month.
If convicted they could face a fine of 1,000 dollars and up to six months behind bars. Watts and Lucas remain free at this time.
A case hearing is scheduled to take place in the middle of November. On September 11th, 28-year-old Watts was handcuffed and detained by police officers in Los Angeles.
Cops had received a report about alleged indecent exposure involving a couple inside a parked silver Mercedes. Officers located the car and couple.
A police report notes “Upon further investigation it was determined that no crime had been committed. Ms. Watts and her companion were subsequently released.”
Watts spoke to reporters and used social media to vent about the incident and question if racial profiling was behind what happened.
The accusation against the police department led to an internal affairs inquiry. The City Attorney’s office hasn’t made public what led them to file charges.
