A woman prompted an emergency response after getting trapped inside a chimney. Reportedly, the female became stuck after illegally entering the home of a man she formerly dated.

Deputies received a report about the incident at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Sunday after nearby residents heard her cries.

Firefighters in Ventura County, California responded to the scene. As part of the rescue, they had to chisel away pieces of the chimney and lubricate the female with liquid dish soap to free her.

The woman, later identified as Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa was conscious during the rescue efforts. She was transported to the hospital for an evaluation.

The male homeowner was not there at the time of the incident. He claimed to have met Nunez-Figueroa online. They went on a handful of dates before the relationship came to an end.

Two weeks prior to the chimney ordeal, Nunez-Figueroa was found on the man’s roof, but she disappeared before police arrived.

The homeowner remarked “Before you have somebody come in your house really check them out … really give it some time before you let somebody in, because they might want to stay.”

Nunez-Figueroa has been arrested for providing false information to a peace officer and illegal entry.
