Paralyzed individuals often hope they will be able to move on two feet again. An exoskeleton recently helped that dream come true for one man who recently walked down the aisle and married his bride.

Paralyzed individuals often hope they will be able to be mobile again. A mechanized exoskeleton recently helped that dream come true for one man who recently walked down the aisle and married his bride.

About three years ago, Matt Ficarra was involved in a diving accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down.

The past few years have been filled with long efforts to gain mobility and independence again.

Since April, Matt had been driving to a rehabilitation center in Pennsylvania weekly to practice moving with the exoskeleton.

Everything prior to the wedding went as planned.

Matt stood as his friends and family helped get him ready. Once it was time to make his way down the aisle, the music kicked in and with help from the exoskeleton and a walker, Matt made his way down the path.

After he got to the designated spot, he waited for his bride to be. Matt stood the entire time for the ceremony, which went off without a hitch.

All the hard work is worth it in Matt's case. He remarked “It feels great to be married. And I am so happy to have met my goal of walking at my wedding.”
