A tiny female puppy has been rescued after being found in the pocket of an alleged drug dealer.

Officers in Lawrence, Massachusetts had just completed a drug bust and were booking individuals when the discovery was made.

During the rountine searches, cops pulled out the 3-week-old American pit bull terrier that reportedly weighed about 3 pounds.

She had been dehydrated and malnourished. Police handed the pooch over to animal control officers, who in turn transferred her to PittieLove Rescue.

Shortly after, the pup began experiencing diarrhea and was vomiting, which are severe issues given the young age and weight. She was transferred to BluePearl animal hospital at that point for treatment and fortunately she has gotten much better.

An emergency doctor at BluePearl, Dr. Jamie Resnick explained If she makes it through these initial problems, she should hopefully go on to lead a good life. It just seems like she was dealt a bad hand in the first part of her life.”

Veterinarians believe the puppy, now named Pocket, will go on to make a full recovery. Once she is nursed back to full health, micro-chipped and spayed, she will be placed up for adoption.
