STORY: The U.S Navy released a video on Saturday (October 18) of a turnover of aircraft carrier strike group operations from the USS George H.W. Bush to USS Carl Vinson in the Persian Gulf.

Aircrafts and helicopters have been taking off from the naval carrier in the Persian Gulf to conduct strikes against Islamic State (IS).

U.S.-led coalition warplanes struck suspected Islamic State targets overnight in the besieged Syrian town of Kobani on Saturday after the fiercest shelling in days by the insurgents shook the town's centre and hit border areas within Turkey.

Islamic State militants have battled Kurdish fighters for a month to take control of Kobani and consolidate a 60 mile (95 km) stretch of land they control along the Turkish border, but stepped-up air strikes in recent days have helped Kurds fend off the advance.
