Two suspected Ebola patients have tested negative in Spain in a first round of tests.
One had arrived on a flight from Nigeria and the other travelled in the same ambulance as an infected Spanish nurse. Both had developed fevers and will be tested again in three days.
Authorities have confirmed that 18 people have been quarantined, in Madrid and the Canary Islands.
The Spanish nurse who contracted Ebola, Teresa Romero, is recovering and her infection described as “almost under control.”
Meanwhile, a British Royal Navy ship, with a fully equipped hospital is heading to Sierra Leone.
UK Royal Marines will travel on board, apparently to protect the ship.
The ship has isolation facilities on board and will take three helicopters, aircrew, engineers and medical staff to help with the fight against Ebola.
The outbreak has so far killed 4,500 people, mostly in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
