There are potential dangers lurking in all laundromats. Recently a man lost his hand resulting from a freak accident inside a laundromat.
Most of us don't think of laundry as a high-risk activity. Recently a man lost his hand as the result of a freak accident inside a laundromat.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 10:30 a.m. The male had been washing a blanket at Andy’s Coin Laundry in Springfield Township, Ohio.
Somehow his hand got caught in the machine. According to a local fire official, his hand turned and twisted off his wrist.
A female witness who called 911 told the dispatcher: “There's a guy, he just took his clothes out of the washer ... it ringed up his arm and his arm is broken, and his hand is hanging off. Please, hurry.”
The woman also said the man was conscious and that his bone could be seen. Another bystander used a clean shirt to wrap it around the male’s injury and stop the bleeding.
He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He is said to have undergone surgery.
It’s unclear at this time if doctors were able to reattach his hand. His condition has not yet been released.
