The red carpet under an English downpour was laid out for the London Film Festival and the premiere of “Wild”. It is Reese Witherspoon’s new movie based on the best-selling novel “Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail.”
The actress plays a real-life woman named Cheryl Strayed who goes off into the wilderness on a journey of self-discovery.She walks 1,100 miles along the Pacific Crest Trail when things go wrong in her life. For the actress it was challenging and liberating. role.
“I think the biggest challenge is just putting yourself out there, doing scary things, taking that leap, jumping with two feet into scary new areas. So for me this movie was a challenge, just mentally to be more gritty, more raw than I’ve ever been in a film, but it was liberating in another way,” explained Witherspoon.
With the break down of her marriage and the death of her mother, Cheryl Strayed lost all hope. After years of reckless, destructive behaviour, she made a rash decision. With absolutely no experience, driven only by sheer determination, Cheryl hiked more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone.
For author Strayed, Reese Witherspoon proved to be an “intelligent” fit to play her on the big screen.
“She talked to me about her life, about the parts of the story that resonated with her emotionally, pieces of it that she related to. And she just struck me right away as such a real person, such an intelligent woman, such a great reader,” said Cheryl Strayed.
The book was adapted for the screen by British author Nick Hornby, who also wrote “An Education” and “Fever Pitch.”
“Wild” is released in the US on December 5 and in the UK on January 15 2015.
