Adnan Oktar's Live Conversation on A9TV dated September 23th, 2014
A letter from a viewer with the pen-name 'Delicate Fanatic’: 'By saying there is no room for violence in Islam all the time, you have caused the appearance of young people with no spirit of jihad.’
Adnan Oktar: Jihad is perceived as cutting people into pieces. Would it not be better to win someone over with ideas rather than cutting him up? Is that at all rational? He believes that cutting people up is a most rational thing to do. But that person ceases to exist when you cut him up. He cannot become a Muslim. They fail to realize. They say, ‘If we behead him, he will become a perfect person.’ The person you behead will die. But if you preach and talk to him, he will come to believe. If you tell someone who was raised as a Darwinist and materialist of the signs leading to faith, of the invalidity of Darwinism and of the Qur’an, he will believe. If he does not, what business is that of yours? But he will most probably believe. If he does not, that is between him and God. He will be rewarded in the Hereafter. He will receive his response in the hereafter.
Whenever jihad is mentioned they always think of killing. Jihad means striving. A young person preparing for a university exam is waging jihad. He is striving.
- Some people do not believe right away, but then do so 10 or 20 years later.
Adnan Oktar: Of course. I, for example, have preached to many people. My teachers (at university) came to faith many years later.
- There are millions of people who have been convinced and come to faith through your works.

Adnan Oktar: (Viewer’s letter) 'I am curious, has the [intellectual] method you describe for dealing with an armed ideology ever actually worked?’
God says it will work. Do it, and I will make it work, He says. If you use violence, the other side will become even more ferocious, you will make enemies out of them, He says. He says the outcome will be strife and corruption. But God says He will eliminate strife if you treat people with affection. For example, results were always obtained with affection in the time of the Companions. Our Prophet (pbuh) was renowned for his love, and hundreds of thousands of people became Muslims. They did not come to believe because violence was used, but because of love.
- A verse says, " If you had been rough or hard of heart, they would have scattered from around you."
That verse is quite explicit. If you were hard of heart, He says, if you had used violence in other words, they would have fled you, it says. But "It is a mercy from Allah that you were gentle with them," "and so they grew in numbers and became devoted to you," says God.
Love is the essential thing in the three faiths, Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
What is ISIL’s ideology? They say, ‘We are under the command of the system of the Mahdi and are a movement of the Mahdi.’ You have to tell these people ‘If you are a system of the Mahdi, then follow the Mahdi.’ What is the sign of being a follower of the Mahdi? Followers of the Mahdi do not spill blood. Not one drop of blood. Our Prophet (pbuh) tells the distinctive aspect – ‘Not one drop of blood will flow,’ he says. But ISIL sheds rivers of blood. Our Prophet says that the Mahdi will not wake the sleeper. ISIL drags them all over the place let alone wake them up. Our Prophet (saas) says that people’s noses will not even be made to bleed (at the time of Mahdi). ISIL cuts people’s heads off! These people need to be told what being a follower of the Mahdi means. If you tell them that, they will stop what they are doing. But they are not told these facts, so these things keep on happening. If these things were explained, everywhere would be an abode of peace. Shedding blood is the difficult thing.
