The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the National Disaster Management Authority should be strengthened on modern lines in view of earthquake threats in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. He made this appeal to the Federal and Provincial Governments while talking to the Disaster Management Committee of the Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation.
The Disaster Management Committee of the KKF informed Mr Hussain about the reports prepared by geologists and other experts regarding the threats of earthquake in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. They told Mr Hussain that the reports have been prepared in light of the minor quakes that are regularly felt in these areas.
Mr Hussain expressed concerns on these reports and said that the federal government should strengthen the NDMA on modern lines and take all necessary steps in this direction.
Mr Hussain praised the work of the Disaster Management Committee of the KKF and gave necessary instructions to the committee for improving its work.
Mr Hussain prayed Almighty Allah to save Pakistan from every kind of natural disaster.
