A newlywed couple in Indiana who had been married for less than a day is now dead due to a murder-suicide.

A newlywed couple in Indiana who had been married for less than a day is now dead due to a murder-suicide.

The incident occurred on Sunday. 54-year-old George Samson, who worked as an anesthesiologist, allegedly shot his new bride and then killed himself.

Shortly after 1 in the morning, the wife, 50-year-old Kelly Samson called 911 claiming her husband had threatened to murder her. She said George was beating her and pointed out he had firearms in the house.

According to police, three short 911 calls were made by Kelly. The first two were quickly disconnected. In the last call, dispatchers heard what is thought to be gunshots.

Deputies were immediately sent to the residence and they discovered Kelly was already dead. Police located George in the basement. He was also deceased.

Kelly had been shot a number of times in the head and chest with a 40-caliber semi automatic pistol. George reportedly shot himself in the head with a 45-caliber handgun.

The couple had been celebrating their wedding when something went horribly wrong. A police official explained “The investigation has revealed that there was a verbal argument between the couple toward the end of the reception, which carried over to the after-party at the couples' home.”

Kelly’s son and an elderly couple had been in the residence at the time of the incident. They were found unharmed.
