In response to massive domestic and international indignation over the police killing of six and disappearance of 43 teachers' college students last Friday in the city of Iguala in the Mexican state of Guerrero, on Monday night President Enrique Peña Nieto ordered federal police to disarm and take over the local police force. The Iguala police are widely perceived as linked to organized crime and a hit-man who confessed to killing 17 of the missing students has implicated officers in the murders. teleSUR
