FERGUSON PROTESTERS INTERRUPT ORCHESTRA IN ST. LOUIS
Two months on from his death and activists continue their campaign for justice for Michael Brown, the black teen shot dead August 9th by a white police officer in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, in the US. As we can see here, a handful of demonstrators staged a flash mob in St. Louis on Saturday, disrupting a classical music concert for a few moments as they sang a song in honour of the late teen.
They also held banners during the recital entitled “Requiem for Mike Brown”; an original tribute and novel protest initiative, which was warmly received. Most of the audience and the orchestra applauded the protesters at the end of their performance.
This protest comes a week ahead of mass mobilisation planned in Ferguson and the surrounding area for this coming weekend, with several rallies already confirmed. The stated aim of these demonstrations is to make sure Michael Brown is not forgotten, to seek justice for his death, as the police officer responsible, Darren Wilson, still has not been arrested by the US authorities.
