Law enforcement officials in Duluth, Georgia are searching for two suspects who tossed chainsaws towards police during a pursuit.

The men reportedly broke into a store called Howard Brothers hardware, where they swiped nearly 20 chainsaws and weed trimmers. They loaded the goods into a stolen vehicle.

A police officer heard the business’ alarm go off and soon caught up with the automobile. A chase perused.

For about 5 minutes, the cop stayed close behind the vehicle and noticed some of the stolen items were being thrown on the road in front of the cruiser.

That first officer was able to use evasive maneuvers to avoid running over the items. A second officer did, however, end up striking one of the chainsaws.

The two suspects soon abandoned the vehicle and fled into the woods. Officers shared the story on the department’s Facebook page noting “The suspects are still at large, but they are at large WITHOUT the stolen equipment....”

Additional chainsaws and weed-eaters were discovered in the back of the auto. A number of the items had been stolen from another shop.

The total value of the property is about $19,000 and most of it has been returned to the store owners.
