Megaman March Madness Megaman IV Showdown EX Hard

2014-10-03 13

Last year, I did the first of what I would make an annual thing on my YouTube channel, Megaman March Madness. The idea behind this, was to play Megaman games (original runs, challenge runs, romhacks based off the original games, etc.) during the entire month of March. Enjoy me going through the first year where I played 6 different Megaman romhacks!

"This is the more challenging of the two Showdown Megaman games I tackled, Megaman IV Showdown EX Hard. What exactly makes this Harder when compared to the original? Let's see now...

1) The bosses you tackle now have different Robot Master weaknesses. So unless you were like me growing up and didn't rely on fully charged Mega Buster shots, you're gonna have to rethink your strategy. Actually, as far as I'm concerned, even I wouldn't recommend going through this game Buster only (or at least for what is possible BO.)

2) You'll always start each stage with 1/2 of your full health, meaning unless you either use an E-Tank or take very little damage from the Robot Masters Revisited in traditional Boss Rush and gain more health recovery from them, you'll never get more than 1/2 health in this game. Speaking of E-Tanks...

3) Now instead of 9 E-Tanks, this game takes the Megaman 2 approach and limits you to only 4 E-Tanks. However unlike in Megaman 2, once you continue from a game over, you'll still get to keep however many E-Tanks you had until then.

4) I'm not entirely sure about this, but from what I can tell, you take slightly more damage from the bosses while at the same time, they take less damage from you (unless you use their weakness of course.) Again though, I'm not entirely sure, so don't hold me to that fact.

5) (Now this is the most important fact of all) You have no, repeat, NO HIT RECOVERY TIME!!! That's right people, by the time invincibility frames WOULD'VE kicked in, you'll immediately take another hit, and another hit, and another hit, and another hit, and keep taking hits until you're dead.

Now having said that, who in their right mind would tackle such a hard romha- oh right, I did. Oh well, much like in Showdown VI, this one was done post-commentary style. Joining me once again will be Bohepans the Third and The Watcher himself, GM."
