South Korea celebrates its 66th Armed Forces Day with an air force and military show on Wednesday marking the day the country's forces broke through the 38th parallel during the Korean War.
South Korean President Park Geun-hye used the opportunity to urge North Korea to abandon its nuclear ambitions.
North and South Korea are still technically at war since the 1950-53 Korean War ended in a ceasefire, rather than a peace treaty.
Both nations currently station about one million troops near their respective sides of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that divides the peninsula.
