A snapshot of compassion in war-ravaged Syria.
Abandoned cats in Aleppo have found a friend in a local ambulance driver called Alaa who is feeding them amid the ongoing violence.
He buys about $4 of meat every day to feed about 150 abandoned cats.
They live in a neighborhood deserted because of shelling by forces loyal to Syria's president Bashar Al-Assad.
Alaa says he has been feeding and taking care of the cats for more than two months.
