Botulism is a rare severe paralyzing illness that’s caused by the Clostridium botulinum bacteria. It is so rare that less than 25 cases are reported in the U.S. each year. Botulism is dangerous because it attacks your nervous system. Sometimes the symptoms you exhibit can be confused with a stroke which causes doctors not to properly diagnose your illness. Symptoms include blurry vision, slurred speech, and extreme fatigue. The paralysis starts from your head and works downward to your body. In severe cases it can cause your respiratory system to shutdown which causes you to have to be placed on a ventilator until your system can recover. These are very serious illnesses and in all cases most likely they will be linked to a specific food. We’ve had a lot of success representing people in botulism claims most of which are linked to canned goods. If you’ve been sickened with food poisoning and you think you are related to an outbreak, please give us a call on our toll-free number.
