We’re always hearing about firefighters carrying dogs or cats out of burning homes, but a recent case involving a frog rescue in Texas may be a first.
Officials from the Fort Worth Fire Department were dispatched to Westworth Village at approximately 11 P.M. on Tuesday. The blaze reportedly began in a boat that was parked in a driveway right next to a residence.
By the time crews arrived on the scene, the fire had spread to an attic inside the house. Immediately firefighters began tackling the flames and they got them under control rather quickly.
They searched the building for occupants but found none. They later learned from a relative that the homeowners were out of town. The family member inquired about the owners’ pet frog, so firefighters went back inside to check on it.
Fortunately the creature appeared to be unharmed and was still in its enclosure when officials located it. A crew member grabbed the tank and brought it outside.
The frog was then reunited with the homeowners’ daughter. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the blaze.
The total damage to the residence and the items inside is estimated to be about 60 thousand dollars.
