STORY: The Pentagon said on Thursday that the impact of attacks by U.S. and coalition forces on eastern Syrian oil refineries was still being assessed but "initially we believe they were successful."
Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby told reporters that fighter jets hit 12 oil refineries used by Islamic State to finance its operations.
"I think you're going to see more such action," he said.
