Anti-gay graffiti appeared on the streets of Belgrade Wednesday, ahead of a gay parade march planned for September 28. The messages such as "Stop the gays," "You won't march 28.09.2014," and "Stop [the] parade" were visible in the centre of the city.
For the last three years, the parade has been cancelled over the risk that heavy clashes between police and anti-gay protesters that broke out in 2010, would occur again.
Early Wednesday, however, Serbian authorities announced that the risk of clashes is lower than in previous years and that the parade will be held as planned.
Several religious and right-wing organisations have called for an anti-gay protest the day before the parade, September 27.
