Saudi Arabia introduces Ebola screening ahead of Haj

Saudi Arabia introduces an Ebola screening progam as the country prepares to receive up to three million pilgrams taking part in the annual Haj.

They come from all over the world -- including West Africa, which is currently experiencing the worst outbreak of the deadly virus on record.

Medical staff check all passengers arriving at Jeddah's international airport.

They give them a health questionaire...

...and have a rapid response plan in case someone needs to get to the hospital.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) ABDULGHANI AL-MALKI, DIRECTOR OF CENTERS OF HEALTH SURVEILLANCE AT KING ABDULAZIZ INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, SAYING:

"This is a rehearsal to clarify how to deal with suspected cases of Ebola disease, so as to know the readiness of health teams."

They are also using thermal cameras and visual observation to spot signs of Ebola.

This year, Saudi Arabia has banned pilgrims from Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea from the Haj due to concerns about Ebo
