More exciting food technology is about to hit the market: a machine that makes beer slushies. For a some, this represents the greatest achievement of our age.
For the rest of us, it represents a mid-range kitchen appliance with a very specific and possibly unnecessary purpose. But for those of you who see all of your college spring break stoner dreams coming true, here’s the rundown: Kirin, a Japanese beer company, has developed a machine that makes frozen beer-foam swirl that you put ON TOP of your liquid beer as a way of keeping your brew cold without watering it down or de-fizzing it. So…actually kind of a good invention? It’s up to you if you think it’s worth $65 and the counter space it’ll take up between uses, but if you’re someone who likes to slowly nurse a glass of beer every night, you’ll probably get your money’s worth. Otherwise, chalk this one up to kitchen appliance engineers with slightly too much time on their hands.
