In this week’s roundtable, what we lack in news, we make up for in sequel-based quasi-news stories. Also, late-afternoon punchiness.
It was a fairly slow news week in the world of movies. But, as with the film industry as a whole, most of what was served up was news, rumors, and outright conjecture around sequels and re-makes of things we’ve already seen. Among them:
Zack Snyder tweeted a picture of the new Batmobile from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It has guns! (?): http://goo.gl/tUEdil
Robert Downey Jr. says there will be no Iron Man 4 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: http://goo.gl/sOAuEM
23 Jump Street might be a thing. Even though 22 Jump Street already made all those jokes: http://goo.gl/0k8FWK
Orlando Bloom has said he’d like to be in Pirates of the Caribbean 5. Wouldn’t we all, Orlando. Wouldn’t we all: http://goo.gl/Rkc2Fk
Top Gun 2 has a writer now - Justin Marks, the writer of the upcoming live action Jungle Book: http://goo.gl/MA7uUv
Dredd 2 is going to be an origin story AND a sequel. If/when it happens: http://goo.gl/1HZthq
The possibility Real Steel 2 (mostly inspires our thoughts on Real Steel 1): http://goo.gl/0x40tf
Bill Murray has some thoughts about which women would be good choices for an all-female Ghostbusters, which he expresses in his own special way: http://goo.gl/n5xvuE
What did you think of our dive into the sequel bucket? What do you think 23 Jump Street could possibly be about? Do you want to be in Pirates 5? Or Ghostbusters 3? What movies do you think are most (or least!) worthy of sequels? Would you like to see a Sequel Bucket Part 2?
