Postpone if possible says Air France as pilots strike continues

Postpone your trip, says Air France as the carrier predicts just 40 percent of its flights will operate normally on Wednesday, the third day of a one-week walk-out.

The carrier admits it sees “no end to the crisis” as pilots continue their action over claims jobs will be moved overseas.

“We recommend that our clients booked between now and September 22 postpone their trip, for free, if their plans aren’t urgent. If they prefer, they can get a credit note which they can use on Air France – KLM for up to one year,” said Catherine Jude, Air France’s Director of Operations.

Pilots say plans to double the size of the company’s low-cost carrier Transavia will see Air France’s services reduced, leading to lay-offs.

On Tuesday, only one in two Air France flights from Paris airports took off while other French cities saw almost all services cancelled.
