Argentina agricultural sector rejects consumer bills

The Argentine agricultural sector together with business and financial interests strongly oppose the three consumer rights bills to be debated Wednesday in the lower house of parliament. The legislative package, already approved in the Senate, contains provisions for establishing a price monitoring agency and changes to the 1974 Supply Law, with the latter disposition sparking the strongest opposition. Agrobusiness is threatening a lock-out if the bill is passed. Leonel Poblete reports from Buenos Aires.
