An alleged German jihadist has gone on trial in Frankfurt charged with membership of a terrorist organisation.
Twenty-year-old Kreshnik Berisha is accused of fighting for Islamic militants in Syria.
He could face ten years in jail if found guilty.
However, the court has proposed a lighter sentence in exchange for a full confession. His lawyers have yet to respond.
Prosecutors say the man travelled to Syria via Turkey after becoming radicalised while on a job training programme.
Germany is currently investigating 140 cases connected to ISIL membership.
