Statue of Amy Winehouse is unveiled in North London

The parents of British singer Amy Winehouse joined fans and media in North London to unveil a statue in honor of their daughter.

Mitch and Janis Winehouse paid tribute to the late singer who would have been 31 on September 14.

Amy's father, jazz musician Mitch Winehouse, said the day has brought a feeling of mixed emotions.

SOUNDBITE: Mitch Winehouse, father of Amy Winehouse, saying (English):

"When I saw it first of all I was very tearful. But it's like every other day you know. We're at the foundation, going to the office, the stuff, obviously Amy memorabilia all over the place and we get a bit tearful and then ten minutes later we're laughing and joking about -- her antics because she was a joker."

The statue was created by sculptor Scott Eaton and shows Winehouse posing with one hand resting on her hip and features her trademark 'beehive' hairstyle.
