So far 58 of these clandestine airstrips have been destroyed as part of a campaign to help stop the transport of cocaine to neighbouring Bolivia.
The runways measure about 600 meters in length and are often built by locals who rent them out to drug traffickers for up to $3500.
Although security forces have destroyed up to 70 of these runways in the past year, officials say locals often rebuild them.
Weather in the region is ideal for cultivating coca leaves and is much more profitable for farmers than crops like coffee or cocoa.
