There’s nothing better than watching a child’s face light up. A six-year-old little girl from Georgia named Addison recently showcased a huge smile thanks in part to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The child’s dream was to meet a pink unicorn and the organization made that happen. Addison wanted to travel to Hawaii, as that’s where she believes the pretty-colored unicorns live.
When Make-A-Wish Hawaii learned of her desire, staffers got in touch with a Waimanalo horse owner, writer Alvin Chan and volunteers from Diamond Head Theatre.
They created a storyline about freeing a queen that led the little girl on her very own adventure through Waimea Valley on the island of Oahu. At the end of the journey, she got to meet and sit on the pink ‘unicorn’ that she dreamed of for so long.
Addison has been fighting leukemia, but currently it’s in remission. Her mother, Danielle remarked “It’s just really touching to see the lengths that everybody has gone through to make her day so memorable. I teared up twice as we were walking through the forest.”
She also talked about the days when Addison was in the ‘throes of the heaviest doses of chemo’. Danielle claimed her daughter was always smiling even when she was so weak she wasn’t able to walk.
