Iraqi police say the car bombs went off within minutes of each other, killing 19 people and wounding 43.
The impact collapsed several structures and left cars gutted.
It was the second deadly bombing in this district of the capital within hours, and came on the same day the top U.S. dipomat, John Kerry, met with Iraq's new prime minister.
