BAGH (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif visited the flood-hit area of Forward Kahuta in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Thursday, Dunya News reported.
Addressing the flood victims, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed deep grief over rain-related deaths and announced Rs 1 million compensation for the families of the deceased.
He said the government will try its best to lessen problems faced by the flood victims and they will not be left alone in this difficult time.
Regarding development projects, Nawaz Sharif announced that a train service will be launched from Islamabad to Muzaffargarh for the first time in the history of Pakistan to promote tourism. He also announced establishment of a university in Haveli.
Earlier, the Prime Minister was briefed about the damages caused by floods in the area. He was informed that the floods did not cause any damage to basic infrastructure of Neelum Jhelum hydel project. Trade and bus service with the Indian occupied Kashmir is suspended due to the floods.
The PM was informed that the floods caused damage to 15 big and 175 small bridges, and Muzaffarabad-Chakothi road is temporary closed.
