Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre speaks about the instant impact Mario Balotelli has made off the field since arriving at Anfield last month.
Speaking at the Soccerex Global Convention in Manchester, Ayre says that Liverpool "generated about £50,000 worth of Balotelli-named shirts" on the day the striker signed for the club.
Despite the figure, Ayre said signing the controversial Italian "was never about commercial opportunity, it was always about the football and always will be".
