ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: For Taiwanese-American designer Jason Wu, next year's Spring look is all about beauty, women and sportswear. The designer, a favorite of first lady Michelle Obama, showcased his Spring 2015 runway show in downtown Manhattan on Friday (September 5). Navy blue solids mixed with olives and sheer fabrics of shimmery blues and greens dominated his catwalk.
His inspiration, he said, was the style of actress Charlotte Rampling and the underrated concept of beauty.
He explained -- "The idea of just treating beautiful textiles, the most precious things in a way that seem familiar like a lace t-shirt."
Pencil skirts were over the knee, but had a thigh-high slit giving it a sexy twist.
Besides sheer fabrics and backless dresses, Wu also introduced the calf-leather Diane shoulder bag, named for his friend and muse, actress and former model Diane Kruger.
