The Toronto Film Festival kicked off in style with Robert Downey Jr walking the red carpet for his new film "The Judge".
Downey Jr. plays a big-city lawyer who returns to his small-town home when his father is accused of murder.
And Downey Jr. was hoping such a dramatic film would be exciting enough to open Toronto.

But thoughts were also with the comedian Joan Rivers who'd passed away earlier that night.
