Employees and customers at a Burger King in East Moline, Illinois recently got a big surprise when they saw a boa constrictor.

On Wednesday afternoon, staffers were busy going about their lunch routine when a patron alerted assistant manager, Lexie Johnson there was a snake in the drive-through.

Johnson’s first thought was that it was a garden snake so she went outside to check it out. Instead of a small, manageable snake, she saw a 6-foot long beast.

Johnson contacted police for help. In the meantime, her co-workers stayed with the creature and did their best to tame it with a broomstick.

Rather than scaring away customers, the boa constrictor seemed to attract them. Johnson explained “We had a little car traffic here just because everyone wanted to stop and look at the snake.”

Police and animal control staffers arrived on scene and successfully captured the boa constrictor. It’s unclear where the snake came from.

If it has an owner, cops are urging he or she to contact the department. For now, the snake is being cared for by employees at a local store called Aquatic Environments in neighboring Davenport, Iowa.
