Apartment explosion kills two near Amsterdam

Two people died and several others injured when part of the facade of an apartment building collapsed in the Netherlands.

A gas explosion was caused by maintenance work on the lifts at the flats in Diemen, near Amsterdam.

Three people were treated in hospital after the front and back of the building was blown away.

Floors and ceilings on the first and second floor were severely damaged.
