A dog that had been missing for more than a week was recently rescued in the UK. A Royal National Lifeboat Institution or RNLI crew in Somerset spotted the stranded pooch at the base of some high sea cliffs.
A dog that had been missing for more than a week was recently rescued in the UK. A Royal National Lifeboat Institution or RNLI crew in Somerset spotted the stranded pooch at the base of some high sea cliffs.
The volunteers located the springer spaniel called Sprig by chance. Minehead RNLI members steered the vessel close to the cliffs after noticing a trapped sheep.
They were just about to turn in the opposite direction when something on the cliffs moved. Helmsman Andrew Escott explained “We went in as close as we could and then we could see it was a dog. It was about 30 feet above the water and we couldn’t work out how it had got in that position.”
Escott quickly sprang into action. He jumped ashore and scaled the cliffs to reach Sprig. Another boat was dispatched to the scene to help bring the pooch down.
Once the rescue was complete, the canine was taken to Minehead lifeboat station where he was given food and water. Soon the RNLI crew realized Sprig belongs to Mark and Susie Sanders, who had been frantically searching for him since August 22nd.
The couple has been reunited with their beloved pooch.
